Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
RivalPit ("we", "us", or "our") operates rivalpit.com, a free website where you can play classic games — Tic Tac Toe, SOS, Dots & Boxes, Color Clash, Ludo, Chess, Gomoku, Hangman, Rock Paper Scissors, and Snakes & Ladders — against friends or the computer. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@rivalpit.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. When you create an account we collect your username, email address, and password. Passwords are never stored in plain text — only as secure one-way hashes. Date of birth is optional at signup.
- Google Sign-In. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your name, email address, and a Google account identifier with us, as authorized by you on Google's consent screen.
- Friends and chat. We store your friend requests, your friends list, and the chat messages you exchange with friends so we can deliver them.
- Support messages. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you.
Information created when you play
- Game activity. Match results, per-game win/loss/draw statistics, your points balance, and your chosen avatar.
- Online matches. Moves in online games are processed on our server, which acts as the referee. Room codes and reconnect tokens are saved in your browser's localStorage so you can rejoin a match if your connection drops.
- Presence. If you switch on "Show me as active", your friends can see that you are online. This resets automatically when you leave the site.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our servers record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. We use these logs for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
- Cookies and similar technologies. A session cookie keeps you logged in, and localStorage remembers things like game room tokens and your cookie-banner choice. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
How we use your information
- To run the games — our server validates every move in online matches so games stay fair.
- To operate accounts and features you ask for: statistics, points, friends, chat, and challenge links.
- To keep the service secure and prevent cheating, spam, and abuse.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To show advertising that funds the free service — see the next section.
Advertising and analytics
RivalPit is free to play and may be supported by advertising. We may work with third-party advertising partners such as Google AdSense. These partners use cookies — including, in Google's case, advertising cookies — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites, and to measure ad performance.
You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings, and from many other providers at aboutads.info/choices. On RivalPit, non-essential cookies — including advertising and analytics cookies — are only set after you accept them in our cookie consent banner. You can change your choice at any time; see the Cookie Policy.
When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that host and run our infrastructure, acting on our instructions.
- Google, if you sign in with Google or when Google advertising services are active on the site.
- Authorities, if we are required to by law or to protect the safety of our users or service.
Some information is visible to other players by design: your username, your avatar, and — only if you enable it — your online status. Chat messages are visible to the friend you send them to.
Data retention and deletion
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. To delete your account, email support@rivalpit.com from the address on the account. We will remove your account record, statistics, friends list, and chat messages within 30 days, except for minimal records we need to keep for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and online game logic runs on our server so tampering with a match from the browser has no effect. No internet service can promise perfect security, but we design for it from the start.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@rivalpit.com — we will verify the request via your account email address. You can also clear cookies and localStorage from your browser settings at any time.
Children
RivalPit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at support@rivalpit.com and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. For significant changes — for example, when advertising goes live — we will highlight the change on the site.
