🎵 About Doodle Band

Doodle Band isn't a game to win so much as a tiny music-making toy built entirely from a hand-drawn cast. Eight characters are split across four rows -- Beat, Bass, Melody, and Vocal & FX -- and tapping any of them adds that character's part into a shared 16-step loop that plays continuously while you experiment.

Each character has a distinct pattern and instrument voice built with real synthesized audio (oscillators and noise bursts, not samples) -- Thumper and Tapper hold down the beat, Woofer and Groovy cover bass, Pling and Hummer carry melody, and Echo and Zap add vocal-style textures and effects. Underneath the sandbox is a light discovery layer: specific combinations of active characters unlock hidden "combo" jingles that get permanently tracked and saved to your browser.

How to Play

1. Tap any character in the doodle crew to add their part into the mix -- tap again to remove it.
2. Layer characters from different rows (Beat, Bass, Melody, Vocal & FX) to build a full arrangement from nothing.
3. Try specific combinations on purpose -- four named combos, including one that needs every character active at once, trigger a short bonus jingle and get logged in your Combos Found counter the first time you find them.
4. Use Reset to clear everything and start a new loop, or hit Surprise Me to have the game pick a random combination for you.
5. There's no scoring or losing state -- swap characters in and out freely until the loop sounds like something you'd actually want to hear.

Combos Found persists in your browser between visits, so if you're chasing all four, it's worth trying every row combination rather than just the ones that sound good together -- some of the best jingles come from pairings you wouldn't guess. Muting lets you silently test combinations at a glance (by watching which portraits light up) if you're just trying to map out what triggers what.
